Metallurgical Evaluation to Identify Defects
Metallurgical evaluation services are useful for detecting surface and internal discontinuities on test samples, determining microstructural features and assuring conformance to required specifications. Laboratory Testing's metallurgical engineers can analyze your samples to reveal a wide-range of information or perform a failure analysis, should the need occur.
The first step in metallurgical evaluation is the preparation of test samples. Test samples are prepared in our lab using precision cutting, mounting, grinding and polishing techniques, and the samples are etched when required.
Metallurgical evaluation is performed by LTI's engineers using a wide range of microscopic, macroscopic and microhardness examination methods and state-of-the-art equipment such as an EDAX SEM/EDS and a Struers microhardness tester. During metallurgical evaluation, results can be documented using digital imaging equipment with optical magnification capabilities to 1000X.
A Certified Test Report is prepared showing the results of each evaluation. Our lab is PRI/Nadcap accredited and extensive procedures are followed to assure reliable results.
