LTI Performs Testing for RoHS Directive
The RoHS Directive was drawn up in the European Union to protect human health and the environment from hazardous substances. The directive applies to most manufacturers, sellers, distributors and recyclers of the following products:
- Household appliances
- IT or telecom equipment
- Consumer equipment
- Lighting equipment
- Electrical & electronic tools & equipment
- Toys, leisure & sports equipment
- Automatic dispensers
The Directive restricts the use of six hazardous materials in these products that are sold in the European Union market after July 1, 2006. Any of the specified products that contain more than the permitted level of the following hazardous materials may not be placed on the European Market: lead, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, mercury, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers.
To assure compliance, the material can be verified through testing. LTI can test for lead, mercury, cadmium and hexavalent chromium. Please provide complete information about the samples to be tested (i.e. plating type, base metal, type of plastic, etc.) to help us quickly process your order.
