Positive Material Identification Using X-ray Fluorescence
A state-of-the-art portable X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometer is used by the Chemistry technicians at Laboratory Testing Inc. to perform Positive Material Identification (PMI). This unit uses an X-ray tube, instead of a radioactive source, for faster analysis times. PMI can be performed on materials in virtually and shape and size.
Positive Material Identification is a nondestructive test method used for determining alloys present in a material and identifying material composition. Industries such as aerospace manufacturing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and the electric power industry depend on PMI testing for proper material identification.
