Stockdale was most recently employed by Superior Tube Company for over 30 years, holding positions from Plant Metallurgist to Director of Metallurgy. During this time with the company, his responsibilities included new product and process development for critical applications in aerospace, nuclear, medical implant and durable goods markets, laboratory quality and in process testing and customer technical support. His expertise includes hydrogen and vacuum heat treating, metal cleaning, metal fabrication, data analysis, metallurgical, chemical and mechanical lab testing and quality assurance of finished products.

In prior years, Stockdale spent five years as a Plant Metallurgist for Handy & Harmon Tube after completing his education. He earned both B.S. and M.S. degrees in Metallurgical and Materials Science at Lehigh University.

Putting His Background to Work for LTI

As Mechanical Testing Manager, Stockdale will oversee the staff and all mechanical testing performed on the first and second shifts. The Mechanical Testing Department offers an extensive list of Nadcap and A2LA accredited services that evaluate mechanical properties. These services currently include tensile, hardness, stress rupture, creep, impact, proof load, bend, hydrogen embrittlement, fracture mechanics and a number of additional test methods.

Capability heat treating is also offered with testing to evaluate the effects of heat treatments on mechanical properties. Although most testing is performed on metal specimens, fasteners, washers or tubing, both tensile and Shore hardness testing are available for polymers. Test results provide customers with information about the suitability of their materials for their intended applications.
